Wrestler profile: Alex Payne

Payne

It wasn’t long after the “ONE FORCE” show on March 9th that Coastal Commissioner Phil Varlese called “The American Psycho” Alex Payne a traitor.  He was called a traitor because he joined the renegade group called The 4ce, a group who not only disrupted the show in Hammonton  that night, but injured several wrestlers, including Braydon Knight, who had just won a 4 man tournament to become the number one contender for the Coastal Iron Man title.  While Payne didn’t participate in that beatdown, he did attempt to injure Coastal Iron Man Champion Ricky Reyes after submitting in their match that evening.  As Johnny Calzone, Ryan Slater & Jon Dahmer ganged up on Reyes, it wasn’t long before Payne jumped in on the action, revealing himself as the fourth member of The 4ce.

So why was Varlese so upset with Payne’s actions?  Quite simply, Payne is one of the most talented wrestlers on the Coastal roster.  Payne, who is from Des Moines, IA, is a graduate of the Ring Of Honor wrestling school under Austin Aries & “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), two former ROH champions.   Payne has wrestled for many promotions on the East Coast, as well as having toured Japan (for NOAH).  He also participated in a big match in Ohio for the then vacant NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship.

So when Varlese contacted Payne about working for Coastal, he knew he was getting a complete athlete.  Payne had immediate impact in Coastal, and was in the semi finals for Tommy Cairo‘s Young Lions Tournament.  He’s been in the mix for the Coastal Iron Man Championship, and while he’s yet to defeat Reyes for the belt, he’s been The Cuban Crippler’s toughest opponent to date.

It will be on April 27 when Payne & fellow 4ce member Johnny Calzone will face the Coastal Iron Man Champion (Reyes) an Heavyweight Champion (Biggie Biggs), as Coastal Pro Wrestling presents “GROUNDS FOR CONFLICT” at the Rollway Skating Rink on 132 S. 2nd Rd in Hammonton, NJ. and while there will be many other great matches that evening, the pride of Coastal will be on the line in this match.
