It seems that the fans have spoken (at least our fans in Canada), and have voted in Canadian independent wrestler Edouard Gillette into the top spot to face Coastal Heavyweight Champion Biggie Biggs at the “One Force” show that will take place on March 8th in Hammonton, NJ.
Coastal is proud of the fans who participated in the poll, which got the largest response of any poll posted on the Coastal Website. Here’s a breakdown of the voting (by percentage)
1. Edouard Gillette – 30%
2. Braydon Knight – 22%
3. Johnny Calzone – 14%
4. Alex Payne – 8%
6. Jael Rose (write in) – 5%
7. Vicious Vin Ceres – 4%
8. “The Nemesis” Damien Alexander – 4%
9. Kevin “Mister” Tibbs – 2%
10. Ricky Reyes – 2%
Other runners up who received votes (in order) include Josh “Absolute” Adams, Anthony Graves, “The Heretic” Bobby Youngblood, “Second To None” Alex Anthony, Luscious LaRon, The Monster Ahtu, “The Reaper” Matt Conard, Bad Boy Danny Pagan, Sebastian Cruz, Ryan Haston, Bolo Yung, Wayne Woo, Stockade, Johnny Nos, Damien Wayne, and Patch.
Additionally, there were several write ins that included Jack Gallow, Fredo Majors, “Good News” Hughes, Anthony Cortez Haynes, Thomas Rodman & James Coller.
Phil Varlese from Coastal said earlier this weekend that he had seen little of Gillette’s work, but he came on high recommendation from several Canadian promoters. Additionally, he was pleasantly surprised by not only the high showing for both Braydon Knight and former Force One promoter/champion Johnny Calzone, but also of the fans writing in Jael Rose. As a result he has promised that while Rose won’t get the title shot (yet), he will be booked for the Coastal debut at the Rollway Skating Rink on March 9th.
Varlese also announced that Coastal Iron Man Champion Ricky Reyes has also been added to the card, and will be defending his championship belt against a yet unnamed opponent.
